Summer 2017 Facility Update

Lots has happened at the station:

  • A new single section 200’ cedar B-Dock is now in place.  Some of the old B-Dock was used to replace the rickety walkway to the beach with these changes adding sufficient length to create a new mooring spot while re-positioning the swim float into deeper water.  In the process, the swim float has been refurbished and a new hose/shower stand installed nearby.  Also added are some swim ladders including to the north side of the cafe where the blind dinghy races are held.
  • The bridge to the beach was moved by fulcrum and lever inch by inch then winched into place. See the photos that show the result and the workers. Their efforts saved us the cost of bringing in a contractor to install the bridge. Well done, gang!
  • Two concrete topped barges are now sandwiched between the two steel barges. The new eastern barge has not yet been ballasted and is floating higher than it will be when finished. There are many tripping hazards on that barge so it is out of bounds to all.
  • Some water lines were repaired and our water source, a 500-gallon plastic tank up the creek, was firmly bolted to rock. Five hundred gallons is a lot, but can be used up if hoses are left running.
  • The Whitehouse bathroom ceiling has been finished and the ceiling and floor painted.
  • A shareholder donated some LED lights for inside the dockside storage shed.
  • Ten new signs were erected. Six are liability signs our lawyers recommended. The six are a boring read, but should be read.
  • Additional mooring pins have been drilled into the shoreline rocks and will soon be chain attachment points.
  • Additional anchors and chains have been added.
